Cadet Pilot Program - Multi-Pilot License (MPL)
The Multi-Pilot License (MPL) licensing training program for cadet pilots emerged as an alternative to traditional pilot training. MLP was developed as a result of the existing pilot training reaching its limits, which at the time was almost a 70-year-old training legacy. The “MPL” was adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2006 as an amendment to Annex 1, Personnel Licensing.
The aim of MPL Program is to train ab-initio cadet pilots to the level of proficiency necessary to enable them to operate as co-pilot of the Boeing 777 / 737/ Airbus A380/A320 and 787 Dreamliners airplane within an average of 24 months under VFR and IFR, and to obtain an MPL License.
The MPL allows for a new training methodology called Competency-Based Training (CBT) in which achievement of specific competencies rather than the accumulation of training time is the primary target and unit of measurement. The MPL includes more training in different types of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs) in preference of flying time in aircraft. Our experts are ready for further brainstorming with involved aviation stakeholders to meet their current and future demands.
